How Different Types of Snow Effect Skiing
There are many types of snow and they all effect the way your skis move across the surface of the snow. One of the main differences between different types of snow is how wet or dry the snow is. If the snow is very dry it can be thrown around by the wind; therefore, making as if there is no snow because there is no base. If the snow is very wet the snow is slush. The slush makes you go slow because it is more water than it is ice. Another type of snow is icy snow. Ice is slush that has frozen because of the lack of new snow to all onto the surface. The ice makes you go fast because there is very low friction on ice. Powder is the ideal snow for most recreational skiers. It is usually the easiest to ski on because it is an even mix of ice and slush, giving you traction and speed at the same time.
